Youth Worker (Community Programming)

Location: Bridges Association for Newcomers – Head Office
Reports to: Project Manager
Start Date: May 15, 2025
End Date: July 10, 2025
Duration: 8 Weeks
Hours Per Week: 35 Hours
Salary: $15/hour

Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must:

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment.

  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a person with refugee protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.

  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number and be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Job Summary

The Youth Worker supports youth engagement and community programming while assisting with administrative and filing systems. The role involves working directly with youth from diverse and marginalized backgrounds, focusing on mental health, anti-racism, and multicultural initiatives, as well as maintaining organized documentation and internal systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and delivering youth programs and events

  • Facilitate educational and recreational activities for youth

  • Provide logistical support during events and prayer services

  • Engage young community members for feedback and program improvement

  • Support evaluation of programs related to mental health, anti-racism, identity, and inclusion

  • Create safe, inclusive spaces that promote healing, equity, and empowerment

  • Provide mentorship, emotional support, and referrals to mental health services

  • Facilitate workshops, discussion circles, peer support groups, and creative activities

  • Promote conversations on racism, cultural identity, and self-expression

  • Build positive relationships with youth, families, schools, and community partners

Qualifications

  • Strong leadership and organizational skills

  • Comfortable working with youth in Islamic and multicultural settings

  • Experience in event or program coordination is an asset
